This is my application to be in the local beauty pageant...
Hi. I’m Tristan Dunlap, a 15 year old from Richland. I want to be part of this pageant because I want to prove that a non-stereotypical “pageant queen” can still enter a pageant and be beautiful just like the others. I am not the smallest girl, I have an athletic build and I have been told that I’m not as pretty as the petite girls because of the way I am built. I am also tall on top of that, and most of the girls that you see entering pageants are shorter or medium height. I want to prove that a bigger girl can still enter a beauty pageant and do as well or ever better than the small petite girls.
Most people would label me as the stereotypical “rocker” or “scene” kid. I love music, rock mostly, but that doesn’t make me a rocker. I play basketball, but it doesn’t make me a jock I draw, but that doesn’t make me an “artsy”. I love my hair being in funky weird colors, and making it very volumized and just all over the place, but that doesn’t make me a scene kid. I wear a lot black clothing and shop at Hot Topic, but that doesn’t make me Goth. I don’t like labels. I am me, a mix of everything, and I like it that way.
I want to prove that no matter whom you are, or what interests you have, you can still do well and look beautiful. No matter what color hair, or what kind of clothing you may have, it shouldn’t matter. If your inner beauty shows through, then it shouldn’t matter if you are the prettiest girl, the wackiest girl, or the average girl. Inner beauty shows confidence, giving you a glow and making you beautiful on the outside, and the inside.
If you can’t find me on the basketball court, you will most likely see me with a note book and a pencil in hand, drawing, or writing poetry or lyrics. Sometimes you can find me acting out my latest story, trying to get the actions and expressions down just right. But if you can’t find me doing that, you will probably find me hanging out with my church group, up in the teen room in our church. Either way I like to stay active in whether it be in school with Student Council, NJHS, FCA, or band, or after school with girl scouts and church activities.
Generally in my free time I love to hang out with my friends, whether we are just sitting around listening to music, or going out to a movie, maybe bowling here and there. I just love to have fun and enjoy life.
